Smith & Nephew Allevyn Complete Care Foam Dressing - Box of 10
Allevyn Complete Care Foam Dressing, shown to help defend against factors that contribute to pressure injuries and manage low to high levels of wound exudate.
Built to help defend patients against factors that contribute to pressure injuries and helps minimise exudate leakage with a next-generation, five-layer construction.
Â
Indications:
Wound management by secondary intention on shallow, granulating wounds, chronic and acute exudative wounds, full and partial thickness wounds including:
- Pressure ulcers
- Leg ulcers
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Surgical wounds
- Superfi cial and partial thickness burns
- Skin graft donor sites
- Skin tears
- Fungating ulcers
- Pressure injury prevention as part of a pressure injury prevention protocol
Â
Combination use:
Can be used in conjunction with INTRASITE GEL for necrotic or sloughy wounds.
Can be used in conjunction with PROFORE Multi-layer Compression Bandage System.
Â
For pressure injury prevention: Using Sheardefense Technology, Allevyn Complete Care Dressings absorb shear forces and reduce soft tissue strain to help minimise the risk of pressure injuries, as part of a suitable prevention protocol.
For exudate management: Highly effective in absorbing and locking away low-high levels of exudate and bacteria, even under compression, including normal and viscous exudate. Shown to help manage bioburden and minimise leakage.
Inside Allevyn Complete Care Dressings: Each aspect of the five-layer dressing has been developed and tested to perform specific functions, such as reducing soft tissue deformation and locking away wound exudate. Explore the individual layers to find out why they add up to Complete Care.
Â
How help prevent pressure injuries:
Unbonded layer design: Dressing layers can move within the dressing to help defend against shear and other factors that contribute to pressure injuries, such as friction, pressure and microclimate.
Optimal microclimate:The breathable top layer helps create an optimal microclimate for pressure injury prevention.
Absorbs and dissipates shear forces: Unbonded layers allow movement within the dressing, known as frictional sliding, to absorb and dissipate frictional forces.
Balances adhesion with gentleness:The gentle wound contact layer is adhered to the foam layer and keeps the dressing in place.
Manages shear within the dressing: Unbonded layers and frictional sliding help shear to be managed within the dressing rather than being transferred to soft tissue.
Â
Application steps:
- Select the appropriate dressing size, ensuring the absorbent pad will cover the entire wound or area to be protected.
- Remove fi rst liner and place the adhesive side of the dressing to the skin.
- Remove remaining liner. Smooth over. If on a wound, ensure absorbent pad covers the wound. Do not stretch the dressing.
- Smooth down the borders. Ensure there are no creases that could compromise the seal. The dressing can be repositioned as required
Â
Removal:Â
Lift one corner and slowly peel back until completely removed.
Dispose of according to local clinical protocols or throw away hygienically after use.
Observation:
When used for pressure injury prevention, frequently inspect the skin for pressure damage by lifting back one corner, inspecting and then repositioning the dressing.
